Roby Sixth Form College, part of Knowsley Community College, is one of the youngest sixth forms on Merseyside, and has become a popular choice for ambitious A Level and BTEC students who enjoy the personal attention and freedom of choice uniquely offered at the Sixth Form College.

    Roby Sixth Form College is part of the wider Knowsley Community College (KCC). KCC is a large Further Education College with a national reputation for educational excellence in a number of fields, and has twice been awarded Beacon College status in recent years. The most recent Ofsted Report (May, 2008) indicated the College’s many strengths, including: Equality of Opportunity: Outstanding, Grade 1.

Courses

There is a wide variety of subjects available to study at Roby Sixth Form College, including GCSEs, BTECs and A Levels. The flexibility of the A Level programme gives students the chance to study different areas, as opposed to committing to one dedicated subject.  A new qualification available to A Level students is the Extended Project, which gives you a lot of scope for creativity and for following up personal interests.

  • Qualifications
    A/AS LevelsAll A Levels are two-year courses, which are often preparation to degree studies. After successful completion of three modules in the first year, you will achieve an AS (Advanced Subsidiary) award, a qualification in its own right. At this point, you have two choices. Continue on with the subject to A2 (the second year of the course) or drop it, and choose a different AS level to go on with.

    Roby Sixth Form College has a wide array of courses on offer both day and evening. You will have plenty to choose from, and have the advantage of starting a course through “right choice” to make sure the course is right for you before you have to commit.

Student Life

Student Services

Student Services is the College's information and advice centre. It is available to students and enquirers alike. From financial assistance to career advice, students rely on these services to support them, in many different ways, throughout their studies. For enquirers, the interview is a great opportunity to ask questions and learn exactly how the college would meet your needs.

  • Funding & Fees
    For most 16-19 years old, education is free. However, there are sometimes course-specific expenses including equipment and examination fees that may be required. For details on fees, talk to an adviser in Student Services prior to enrolment.
  • Learning Support
    If you tell a Student Adviser or any member of staff that you have a learning difficulty or disability, or you feel that you may need assistance with your learning, a member of the Learning Support team will be available at your interview. You are also welcome to bring along an advocate, someone you feel comfortable with and has your best interests in mind, like a parent/carer.
  • Parent/Carer Participation
    Parents/Carers are an important component of the success of a student. That is why Roby Sixth Form College believes in involving Parents/Carers as much as possible with the College and in the progress of their child/ward. As a Parent/Carer, you will receive regular updates from the College:
