At Roby Sixth Form College, you will have the support of a helpful team of advisers. Get to know them a little bit better now...
Louise Mitchell

"I joined Student Services in April 2005, after working in the College’s Adult and Community Education department where I managed work-based learners and taught Adult Numeracy and Literacy.
After graduating from the University of Liverpool with a degree in English Language and Literature, and prior to joining Knowsley Community College, I worked for the Learndirect Advice Line. For three and half years I advised on courses, careers and funding matters. I have also gained NVQs at Levels 2, 3 and 4 in Information, Advice and Guidance.
With over 6 years’ experience in the Information, Advice and Guidance field, I work both as a Student Adviser for General Education and as a Careers Adviser.
As a Student Adviser, I can provide one-to-one advice on personal, financial and academic issues.
I also specialise in Higher Education advice. Part of my role involves organising Higher Education trips and visiting speakers from Universities."

“I have recently graduated from The University of Liverpool studying Sociology and Criminology. I am one of the newest members of the Adviser team, joining in September 2007. Prior to working for the College, I was a volunteer for Victim Support which involved talking to, listening to, and visiting victims of crime. I came across a variety of issues, from domestic violence to vandalism, and I am more than happy to speak to students who have any personal issues which will be dealt with confidentially.
As well as personal support, I can offer one to one advice and guidance regarding financial matters and academic issues, such as University applications or study skills. Another part of my role is to help organise and facilitate Higher Education trips in order to broaden student options. I feel University visits provide students with a real feel for what student life is like and can motivate them to achieve their potential.
I am one of the Advisers for General Education, which includes A Levels, GCSEs and BTEC Science and can be contacted through Student Services.”
