Knowsley Community College launches Borough’s Safer Internet Day - 17/02/2010
Knowsley Community College is working with Knowsley Metropolitan Borough Council and other partners, to educate and encourage young people to stay safe online.
On Tuesday 9th February, Knowsley Community College celebrated ‘Safer Internet Day’. As well as in-house activities, the College also hosted a ‘breakfast launch’ for the whole Borough’s celebrations. The day aimed to raise awareness of safe and responsible use of new technologies amongst children and young people
The morning in College included speeches from Damian Allen, Knowsley Council’s Executive Director of Children and Family Services, and special guests including The Deputy Mayor. Cronton Holy Family Catholic Primary School came along to perform an eSafety song and a thought-provoking DVD entitled ‘Party Girl’, produced by Connexions and starring local students, was also shown.
Throughout the day, both in College and throughout Knowsley, many people signed the ‘E- Safety Pledge’ which sets down individual and collective support to the campaign to keep all children and young people, wherever they access the internet, safe and free from harm.
Knowsley’s participation in International Safer Internet Day was hailed as a great success by all partners and was acknowledged as an excellent example of partnership working across a wide range of local agencies.
