Christmas is on the Cards for Prescot Primary and Knowsley Community College - 07/12/2009
With Christmas fast approaching, it was time for Knowsley Community College to ask a local Primary School to take part in their annual Christmas Card Competition.
This year, Prescot County Primary was the school selected to come up with the winning design. The design will be used on the College’s Christmas Cards, which go out to local businesses and employer contacts.
Year 3 pupils got to work straightaway in the hope of gaining the first prize. Deciding on a winner was extremely difficult with all the children putting in lots of effort. Eventually the design, by Ryan Simpkin, of a smiling Rudolf, was picked as the winner. Katie Donnelly and Jessica Wailes came a close second and third in the competition with their fun, festive designs.
Chris Jones, Marketing Manager at Knowsley Community College, presented the prizes in school assembly. A delighted Ryan received £50 in High Street vouchers, as well as a collection of his Christmas cards to send out to family and friends. Katie and Jessica also received vouchers just in time for Christmas.
Prescot Primary School also received copies of the winning Christmas card design to distribute out, in addition to a £100 cheque. Catherine Fairhurst, Headteacher, said, “I am incredibly proud of Ryan for winning the Christmas card competition with such a beautiful, happy picture of a reindeer. It has been lovely to connect with Knowsley Community College so our children can see how they can aspire to achieve in the future.”
