Knowsley Community College - A Foundation for Success - 17/09/2009
Businesses all over Knowsley are benefiting from the work of Foundation Degree students at Knowsley Community College. Several employers from across the borough, including Jaguar Landrover and Knowsley Council, attended the presentation at the College on 10th September, which recognised the work and achievement of these students.
Many of the Foundation Degree projects, completed in the last academic year, have been adopted by local employers, including one which is set to potentially save the company £56 million by reducing employee ‘downtime’ by just 1%. Other projects completed by Business and Management, Leisure and Tourism and Computing students ranged from website redesign, to reducing sick leave, to even creating a whole new company marketing strategy.
Knowsley Community College has been offering Foundation Degrees for since 2003 and each year has seen a growth in student numbers and achievements. Frank Gill, Principal, said at the presentation, ‘The College’s Foundation Degrees offer students the chance to combine academic study with real work-related experience by way of projects which strive to benefit businesses. These could not be so successful without the support and involvement of local employers.’
