Knowsley Community College and Millbrook Primary Spread the Christmas Cheer - 03/12/2008
It was that time of year again when Knowsley Community College asks a local Knowsley Primary School to take part in their annual Christmas Card Competition.
The keen youngsters in Year 3 at Millbrook Primary School, Kirkby, got to work straightaway in the hope of gaining the winning prize. Year 3 pupils were asked to come up with a design to be used on Knowsley Community College’s Christmas cards.
Deciding on a winner was extremely difficult with all Year 3 pupils putting in lots of effort. Eventually the design, by Rhys Smith, of a jolly Father Christmas in his sleigh, was picked as the winner. Toby Wood and Lauren Neely came a close second and third in the competition with their fun, festive designs. Frank Gill, Principal of Knowsley Community College, presented the prizes in school assembly. A delighted Rhys received £50 in High Street vouchers, as well as a collection of his Christmas cards to send out to family and friends. Toby and Lauren also received vouchers just in time for Christmas.
Frank Gill was pleased with the winning design, adding, “These are special Christmas cards as we send them out to all our local business and employer contacts.”
Millbrook Primary School also received copies of the winning Christmas card design to distribute out to the School, in addition to a £100 cheque. Head teacher of the Primary School, Jane Maloney, congratulated pupils, “It has been a great opportunity for the school to take part in this competition I was very impressed with the talent of our Year 3 pupils and they all really enjoyed coming up with the designs.”
